The Farmers’ Markets We Love in St. Louis
Soulard Farmers’ Market
We have to start with the most established, year-round farmers’ market in historic Soulard because it’s also the most fun overall (with Tower Grove being the most kid/family friendly). Soulard Farmers’ Market boasts some of the most unique offerings, with a rotating line-up of artists, farmers, florists, bakers, restaurants, bars, and local makers. Get St. Louis-style BBQ sauce, locally raised free-range chicken eggs, seasonal produce, and spices alongside great restaurants to grab a bite to eat or drink to enjoy while you shop. It’s also a great market for off-season shopping, or shopping for gifts. Make a day of it by visiting any of the restaurants or live music venues in the area. Market is closed on Sundays. Besides the flower shops down St. Louis’ Florist Row, this is a top place to find the best – and most affordable – cut flowers in town.
Kirkwood Farmers’ Market
This seasonal market offers great shopping in the heart of the charming downtown Kirkwood scene. Explore local vendors, with special native plant sales and seasonal items rotating throughout the summer. We love this market because it’s not overly huge, so you can park and get around fairly easily. Downtown Kirkwood has recently had some pedestrian-friendly updates, thanks for a Master Plan created for the overall community feel of this flourishing neighborhood. Local families enjoy strolling down to the market, or sit down for a leisurely breakfast alongside the market. O.K. Hatchery is worth a visit if you haven’t been, for gardening supplies, bird seed, and outdoor living essentials.
Tower Grove Farmers’ Market
This may be the largest – and most family friendly – farmers’ market in St. Louis. You’ll find the usual produce, bread, dairy, eggs, and meat alongside locally made jewelry, artisanal coffee roasters, art, plants, teas, herbs, and apparel. Live music and a donation-based yoga class attract an active crowd to this outdoor market. The tennis and pickleball courts are just a short walk away, so you can play before or after shopping. Parking inside the inner roads of the park can get pretty busy, so we recommend parking just outside of the park, on Arsenal or Magnolia streets. Walking or biking would be ideal, if you can carry your goods. The big market is on Saturdays in summer, with a small Tuesday evening marketing also happening. Learn more on the official website here. There are always great options for coffee, breakfast, and lunch available from local vendors, too.
SOL Food Farmers’ Market in Maplewood
Maplewood has a charming and diverse farmers’ market that happens on Wednesdays from 3:30-6:30pm in Maplewood. This is a great mid-week market to visit to purchase locally, especially if you are usually busy with other things on the weekends, when others typically happen. SOL does a phenomenal job keeping social media updated with the latest and greatest offerings available. See what they have now on Facebook. There are also other great locally-focused shops in the area, along with some of the best breweries in St. Louis; Schlafly Bottleworks and Side Project.
Luckily there are other small farmers’ markets in St. Charles, Lake St. Louis, Chesterfield, and Arnold. Elevate your home cooking with high qualify local ingredients each time you opt to stock your fridge with produce, veggies, fruit, and healthy ingredients while supporting your local community.
